Chocolate Pie

Pie Crust: Most important ingredient for your pie! You can make it your own or also use pre-made store-bought. A buttery and flaky crust is crucial for your chocolate filling. Be sure that your pie crust should be thick as it is good to hold the pie.

Sugar: You can use white or brown sugar according to your taste. It adds a silky smooth texture to your pie.

Cocoa Powder: Use high-quality cocoa Powder for the best and chocolatey flavor.

Milk: Whole or evaporated milk is important for a smooth and creamy texture.

Egg yolk: For smooth and velvety texture, it is most important. It helps to thicken your chocolate filling. Be sure to only use egg yolks for more flavor and moisture.

Flour: It is used as a thickener and gives a firm texture to your pie. You can use all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour as your preference.

Butter: For in-depth and smooth flavor, it is most important. It will give your pie an extra level of finish.

How to make Chocolate Pie?

  • Place it over medium heat, add 1 cup of milk, and continuously whisk it to a thick simmer.
  • Meanwhile, add the remaining 1/2 cup milk, egg yolks, flour, and salt in a large heat-safe mixing dish and whisk until smooth
  • Slowly whisk the hot milk into the egg mixture as it comes to a simmer after being heated in the saucepan. Re-enter the saucepan with the liquid. To achieve a thick and bubbly consistency, cook over medium-low heat while stirring constantly.
  • Take it off the fire and mix the butter and vanilla until it’s melted and evenly distributed throughout the dish.

Additional Tips

Be patient when whisking: Be patient while you whisk the filling and swirl until it thickens and begins to boil. It will guarantee a creamy consistency without any lumps.

Gradually add the milk: Add the milk slowly while mixing in the remaining ingredients to avoid clumping. Blend the milk into the mixture gradually while whisking constantly.

Cook the filling until thickened: Cook it over medium heat, constantly stirring to avoid lumping, until it thickens and boils. It will ensure the filling solidifies into a silky custard.

Chill before serving: Wait until the pie has cooled fully before cutting into it. Refrigerating the pie for at least a few hours, preferably overnight, will provide the greatest results. The filling may then be set and cut with more ease.

Can I substitute the milk in the filling for a non-dairy alternative?

You may use non-dairy, coconut, or almond milk. If you want to keep the filling’s taste pure, pick an unsweetened type.

Can I use dark chocolate instead of cocoa powder for my chocolate pie filling?
