Ingredients Variations

Chicken:

Panko Chicken’s star ingredient is usually boneless, skinless chicken breasts. For the crisp exterior, they give a delicate and delicious foundation.

Seasoning:

We can use various seasonings to give the chicken a more robust flavor. Common choices include salt and pepper, which create a simple yet delicious flavor, but you can also try other spices and herbs, such as paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, or dried herbs like thyme or rosemary. Adjusting these ingredients to your taste is easy.

Panko Breadcrumbs:

Panko breadcrumbs are an integral part of Panko Chicken since they provide the coating with a light and airy texture while maintaining its crunch. These are coarser than standard breadcrumbs, make for a crispy coating. You’ll find them in the Asian or international cuisine department of most supermarkets.

Additional Tips for Panko Chicken Recipe

  • Dipping sauces: Chicken coated in Panko bread crumbs goes well with many condiments. Traditional condiments that would go well with it include honey mustard, barbeque sauce, and ranch dressing. Or, for a fusion spin, try dipping your food in sweet-and-sour, teriyaki, or spicy mayo, all of which have their origins in Asian cuisine.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs and citrus: The Panko Chicken would be perfect with adding some freshly chopped herbs before serving. This adds something lively and new. A squeeze of fresh lemon or lime juice before serving the chicken gives a burst of flavor.

Can I make Panko Chicken in the oven?

Put the breaded chicken on a baking sheet coated with parchment paper, and bake it in a preheated oven (220 degrees Celsius). Use a spray bottle or a drizzle of oil to help the chicken brown. The chicken should be cooked through golden brown after 20 to 25 minutes in the oven. Instead of using unhealthy deep frying, you may use this method to get the same crispiness with fewer calories.

Can I make Panko Chicken in the air fryer?

Preheat the air fryer (200 degrees Celsius) if you use it. Put the chicken tenders in the air fryer basket in a single layer. To hasten the browning process, spritz the chicken lightly with cooking oil. Depending on how crispy you like your chicken, it should take 10-15 minutes in the oven. The results from using an air fryer are comparable to deep frying but with far less oil.
