Peach Cobbler With Cake Mix

What is a peach cobbler with a cake mix?

The simplest dessert, peach cobbler with canned peaches and cake mix, is a perfect variation of the cake. You can use either canned or fresh peaches and a fantastic topping with whipped cream or vanilla ice cubes.

It includes a layer of sliced peaches in a baking dish topped with cake mix, forming a crispy mixture that contrasts perfectly with the sweet and juicy peaches underneath.

The texture is not perfect like cake, but the flavor you will get is outstandingly delicious. This perfect dessert needs just 10 minutes of effort, and you will get your dessert after an hour of baking and topping.

This bubbling, crispy golden brown topping dish is a simple and easy-to-make dessert for sweet lovers just like strawberry crunchy cake and chocolate pie.

Peach Cobbler With Cake Mix

Canned peaches: I used canned peaches with light syrup in this recipe because I’m not fond of much sweetener. It’s totally up to you how sweet you want in your dish. You can also use fresh peaches, increasing the taste of your dessert.

Cake Mix: Take cake mix from your desired brand. You can use any flavor, but I am using yellow cake mix for this dump-and-bake cobbler recipe. The yellow cake mix is used because it is denser and makes a perfect texture after mixing with peaches.

Corn starch: It is essential for thickening up the peach filling. It will help to create a thick syrupy sauce around the peaches. Here you need to remember one thing that you need to give proper time to baking till the bubbling texture of the fruit, and it also helps cornstarch to thicken the sauce properly.

Cinnamon: This spice is crucial to give a cobbler a warm and cozy flavor. There you can also use a variation of lemon juice instead of cinnamon.

Brown Sugar: Little amount of brown sugar adds depth to the dish. You will get an amazingly delicious flavor of peach cobbler.

Butter: Depending on your preference, you can use either salted or unsalted butter for this recipe. I used unsalted butter in my dessert.  Perfectly melted butter helps to moisten the cake and makes a crumble topping.

Be sure to cut the butter into small pieces and keep them in equal space throughout the cake mix.

Additional Tips

  • Fresh peaches, instead of canned, will require preparation (peeling and slicing) before being added to the baking dish. To execute this, you must cut an “X” into the bottom of each peach, blanch them for 30 seconds in boiling water, and then chill them in ice water. You can remove the skins with little effort and cut the peaches into manageable chunks.
  • Topping: Peach cobbler made with a cake mix is great with whipped or vanilla ice cream. Each dish can be topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, and the cobbler is best when served warm. When the ice cream finally melts into the hot cobbler, the resulting contrast in temperature and texture will be irresistible.
  • Leftovers: Peach cobbler leftovers will keep for a few days in the fridge. The meal may be stored in the refrigerator until it is time to serve by being covered with plastic wrap or foil. A single serving may be reheated in a microwave or oven for minutes.

FAQS

What is the difference between Dump cake and cobbler?

While dump cake and cobbler are produced by combining fruit with cake mix, they are pretty different.

The topping on a cobbler is crumbly and biscuit-like, whereas, in a dump cake, the texture is more homogeneous and cake-like.

To prepare a dump cake, you “dump” the fruit into a baking dish, sprinkle the top with cake mix, and drizzle the top with melted butter. However, in Cobbler, the fruit filling is often prepared separately from the topping, made with flour, sugar, butter, and other ingredients and then spooned on top.

Cobbler is often cooked with fresh or canned fruit like peaches, apples, or berries, but dump cake may be created with fruit, even canned pie filling.

For serving, you can cut a dump cake into pieces or use a cookie scoop, although a cobbler is more commonly given by the spoonful, like a fruit-filled biscuit.

Can I make a peach cobbler with cake mix in a crock pot?

Sure, a cake mix and a crock pot will produce a delicious peach cobbler. Separate bowls will be needed for the peach filling and the cake mix topping.

Cook on low for 2-3 hours, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling, when the peach filling may be poured into the crock pot and the cake mix topping can be spooned over the filling.

This technique may make a warm cobbler great for dunking in whipped or vanilla ice cream.
